Are You Looking Forward to Dia del Oso 2024? Because I AM!
Hello, my name is Sydney Andros and I am writing to you readers today to talk about one thing and one thing only. Día del Oso. For those who do not know, that means the Day of the Bear, and it is an annual spring holiday put on by Baylor University. I had an absolute blast last year at the event and felt passionate enough to tell you that you would too. Even if you are not a student, it is an event that everyone can enjoy. From all the food, fun, and fellowship, anyone would feel welcomed by Baylor University on this special day and they would have the time of their life.
So, I am sure you are wondering - what even is Día del Oso? Well, it is an annual spring event that has been put on by Baylor University since 1932. It started as a day to 'bring smiles back to students faces' and give them a day off from class. It is set on a random Tuesday every spring and gives a chance for students to relieve some stress.
The idea behind it was to allow students to have a care-free day because during the time this tradition began, students were facing the harsh realities of the Great Depression. Thus being said, with Baylor sticking with its tradition, this day still brings the same fun and energy to campus just as it needed to 90 years ago.
This past Día, I played intramural sports as well as participated in the attractions and food options. It was a special Día because it was my 20th birthday. Being able to celebrate with my friends and have a day where I did not have to focus made Día that much more fun. Even though my birthday is my favorite holiday after Christmas, Día may come in third. It is a day full of on-campus fun that is worth celebrating!
You can enjoy intramurals, food, music, entertainment, attractions, and so much more! This is why I think you should go to Día del Oso and let me know how much fun you had!
For more information, visit the Baylor website and check out all the fun you could have, the possibilities are endless!
Best, Sydney
